The Silicon Valley Bank "State of the Wine Industry" survey results are out and here are some results from the New York wineries that returned the survey (the number of NY wineries that responded to the survey is not quantified in the report). Get the complete report here
- Average price per bottle of NY wine is $19, which is the lowest price per bottle of all wine regions listed in the survey results
- NY wineries with a Data Analytics (DA) staff person: 25% have a full time DA person; 42% have a part-time DA person; 33% have no DA person
- NY wineries interested in selling their winery: 50% said Not Interested; 17% said Unlikely; 8% said Possibly; 17% said Would Seriously Consider; 8% said Likely
- For 2020 wine harvest quality for NY wineries: 67% said Excellent; 25% said Good; 8% said Average. NY survey results showed the best wine harvest quality of any wine region listed in the survey.
- For 2020 wine harvest yield for NY wineries: 25% said At or Near Record High Yields; 33% said Average Yields; 33% said Below Average Yields; 8% said At or Near Record Low Yields
- For sales channel distribution for NY wineries: 73% Direct to Consumer; 7% Wholesale On Premise; 18% Wholesale Off Premise; 2% Other
- Percentage of NY Winery respondents saying that had a good year in 2020 was 50%
